Date: November 5, 2015
The article deals with safety in warehouses. The article focuses on work safety for drivers of handling equipment and compliance to technological procedures for loading goods onto shelves. Failure to comply with safety rules causing damage to goods and reduces the efficiency of logistics companies. Currently, safety conditions are being violated because of the employment of unskilled workers - logistics operators. In the Czech Republic a dual system of education does not prepare the appropriate personnel.
SIC (Statistical and Inventory control) models could be very useful for stock control in practice, but they have to be applied in a proper way. What are the very frequent mistakes we do and how to avoid them? How to distinguish what model is the most suitable to the inventory problem we shall solve? Despite the fact that SIC tools are older than logistics as an industrial branch and older than modern SCM concepts we need to be aware if the models are applied without the basic mistakes.
Distribution logistics covers all warehouse and transport movements of goods from producer to customer, and related information and control activities which are realized through distribution channels. Within these channels, there is predominantly a physical distribution which can be understood as a subsystem of distribution including all operations related with the physical movement of distributed goods. Optimisation of physical paths is mainly possible through strategic distribution which is mainly engaged in the design of distribution system, design of warehouse network, choice of transport and handling devices etc. Physically, there is a
distribution in network, where structure of entities in the network of suppliers, warehouses, cross-docks and customers is analyzed and optimized. Then, the distribution chain can be realized through nodes and segments, where nodes form a multiple of organisation units of producer and of external providers who participate in the process of goods distribution, and segments are physical paths through which the goods move between nodes.
In practice, there are extensive systems that can not be analyzed using standard software tools. The paper shows possibilities of analysis using binary matrices.
The project deals with factors of the customer decision-making process by choosing Third-Party Logistics (3PL) providers in the Czech Republic market. While applying factors by other relevant research studies focusing on the decision-making process of customers in the Asian, Australian and American market, the research monitor factors characteristic for the Czech customers. Questionnaires and interviews as qualitative research methods are applied in the survey project to find out the preferences of service factors of importers from various industries. The survey also examines the influence of a respondent’s industry and the length of experience in industry on the decision-making process by 3PL provider selection. A new service quality instrument TARRQUAL was developed during the research. The TARRQUAL model as service quality measurement is supposed to be applied especially in logistics. 42 decision-making factors were divided into 4 dimensions: Tangibles, Assurance, Reliability, Responsiveness, so that the model better fits the needs of the logistics branch. The survey is supposed to provide further cooperation input for 3PL providers and their customers and to reveal customer requirements for logistics services. The project aims at providing input for empirical research in the field of service quality in container transportation, which is lacking not only in the Central and East European (CEE) countries.
This paper deals with autonomous vehicles and drones for transport logistics, security. It presents a security system that protects us today in automobiles. Is a safe car that will monitor safety during the journey. Describes improve transport safety, logistics, based on communication between vehicles. Then describes autonomous vehicles, which represent the future for added security transport logistics. Suggests the possibility of using autonomous vehicles in the logistics chain. This represents the drones, as a possible way of transport logistics groupage shipments.
