List of Abstracts 2017: SESSION C - LOGISTICS OF DISTRIBUTION, TRANSPORT
Date: June 28, 2017
Each kind of transport is very sensitive toweather and its conditions, which might change in a short period of time. Proper information about the current weather is very useful in order to schedule the transportation.
Information about the weather and its prediction could be obtained from diverse sources for waste areas all around the world. One of the most useful sources of meteorological weather predictions are the weather numerical outputs. These outputs must be correctly interpreted for numerous types of users. The data are delivered with various validity periods and in different forms.
The information about weather and its correct explanation may produce better economical results.
The paper presents possible current and future advantages, disadvantages, benefits and risks of the satellite-based Earth Observation (EO) use in logistics with special focus on industrial companies. Global satellite EO market, provided vallue-added services and products, and logistics applications are analysed and evaluated.
According to the new edition of the ISO 9000 family of standards, quality is defined as a correspondence to the requirements. In this paper the authors analyze different (comfort of travel , reliability which describes proper work of a tram for the required period of time and under certain conditions, durability which can be understood as the ability of tramways to execute its required function for a longer period under specified conditions of use without high costs on maintenance or repair, safety, traction-operational characteristics, operational costs, price, enviriomental friendliness as well as utility and functionality) requirements concerning trams, defined by customers from European countries who purchase/ order certain models of trams. The authors analyse these customers' requirements (characteristics, parameters) in Poland, Germany, Czech Republic, Hungary, France and Turkey and based on these characteristics define a consistent family of criteria to assess the trams overall quality. The analysis of hypothetical national tram models is formulated as a multiple criteria ranking problem. Thus, the trams are ranked from the best to the worst. The authors perform a series of computational experiments with an application of a selected multiple criteria ranking method - Electre III/IV. The generated rankings result in a comprehensive analysis of the requirements concerning quality of trams.
The paper concerns evaluation of urban transportation projects. The set of selected projects related to urban transportation/logistics was considered and their influence on realization/attainment of various strategic, tactical and operational goals defined in given urban agglomeration was examined. As a result, multiple-criteria evaluation of considered transportation projects on various levels of analysis, taking into consideration different criteria and approaches to evaluation on strategic, tactical and operational level has been carried out.
The special attention was paid to the aggregation of rankings in aforementioned multiple-criteria evaluation of transportation projects carried out on various levels of hierarchical structuring of the problem. This problem has been characterized in a detailed way and the methodological proposal for generating aggregated results in multiple-level, multiple-criteria evaluation of transportation projects has been put forward. The authors have presented original formulas of ranking aggregation, as one of the most important elements of the considered methodology of multiple-level, multiple-criteria evaluation of transportation projects, which enables to achieve one, consistent final result. They conducted their analysis as a research on real cases concerning urban transportation projects in Poznan (Poland). They evaluated various ways of aggregation and their influence on the final result. In particular they analysed what are the effects on the final results when different diagnostic/decision variables and diverse ways of normalizing them in the proposed aggregation formulas are selected. The computation results have been presented in the paper. The above mentioned decision-making process was carried out using the multiple-criteria and group decision-making methodologies.
State of the art electronic toll collection systems can be utilised in many ways. Mainly autonomous (satellite) electronic toll systems can be seen as a more general telematics platform in vehicles. In many countries the solution of truck parking has been solved.
To avoid multiple devices that the driver should use during his driving, the paper deals with the possible solution of intelligent truck parking system based on the infrastructure of autonomous electronic toll collection system.
Initially the applicability of the toll on-board unit and other subsystems of electronic toll collection system is analysed. Then the functional requirements for intelligent truck parking system are specified. Afterwards the proposal of the system architecture is mentioned. The design was split into two parts – central system and local system. For both subsystems the module architecture of the software was proposed.
The suggested proposal shows that the intelligent truck parking system based on electronic toll system should be not only possible, but also effective and reliable solution.

International commerce of Baltic Sea Region is characterized by a high share of mutual trading. The Baltic States trade with neighbouring countries. The commodity structure shows a steady increase in turnover of processed goods. The cargo flows between Baltic countries formed regional supply chains. Ferry and ro-ro shipping handle the majority of general cargo transported in units in intra Baltic trades. These segments of shipping are affected by alternative modes of transport, especially road transportation. In the other hand this industry is an important link in intermodal transport and ferry and ro-ro lines are parts of TEN-T network and Motorways of the Seas.
The aim of the article is to research into the importance of ferry and ro-ro industry in regional supply chains in Baltic Seas Region and examine how growing turnover has affected the shipping. The research hypothesis is: The ferry and ro-ro shipping is the prime maritime link in regional supply chains in BSR. In order to verify the hypothesis the analysis of the cargo flows in the Baltic Sea will be conducted as well as the prime determinants which have a major impact on ferry services will be discussed. The research methods are the analysis of original data of the cargo volumes transported by ferries and ro-ros, analysis of macro and micro economics determinants of trade turnover and survey.
Internet represents easy way to access global shopping opportunities. E-shops offer their customers various goods and services and after buying, they try to quickly distribute them to their clients. Some customers have a problem with electronic way of communication and distribution of goods. They want to pick up their goods directly from the seller or they should know where is the place for goods claim. These place are contact points of e-shops.
This paper is dedicated to construction the real e-commerce contact points network through discrete allocation models. The contact points network consists from the nodes and links. The information about the orders of existing customers was used as a weight of the network nodes and network shortest road distance was used as a value for the links. The three variants of location of e-commerce contact points were found by using the facility location method (p-median). The all variants represent the opportunity for the best location of contact points in the conditions of Slovakia. The choosed variant that will be applied in practice depends on company management.
One of the most important business trend influencing future competitive – and so the strategic decisions – is sustainable development. Sustainability means the ability to take activities that meet pro-ecology, pro-social and economic objectives. One of the solution meeting the needs of enhancement of ecological sustainability is multimodal transport development. The aim of the paper is to present part of the results of the ChemMultimodal project that is under the development of the Interreg Central Europe Program. Presented results show part of the available methods and open-access tools for transport CO2 emission calculation. The study consists also of the results of the market research on multimodal usage and CO2 emission measurement within researched companies engaged in chemical supply chains in Poland. These results have been compared with companies’ declarations of corporate social responsibility and sustainable development strategy implementation. Majority of the respondents do not use multimodal transport and do not measure CO2 emission in transport operations. Additionally there is lack or minor interest in CO2 emission measurement in the future even if the companies declare susutainable strategy implementation. It might be coused by minor proportion of CO2 emission in transport in comparison to total CO2 emission by researched chemical companies. The other argument was that there are no regulatory requirements for such an activities. Therefore when analyzing whole activities of the company – and so also within its supply chains – some divergences and lack of consistency on operational, tactical and strategical levels might be observed.
