Date: June 15, 2022
The development of the Logistics 4.0 concept entails increasing interest in implementing autonomous systems to support material flows along the entire supply chain. Currently, very popular internal logistics solutions use autonomous trucks and unmanned aerial vehicles (drones). In manipulative operations, they replace or support a human being in his operations so far. In recent years, numerous implementations of unmanned aerial systems have been observed in routine and dangerous logistics operations in which human involvement should be limited. Thanks to their application, it is possible to reduce human errors and improve the implementation of selected processes.
The article aims to present a project to implement an unmanned aerial system to handle internal manipulation operations between a warehouse and a laboratory at a manufacturer in the chemical sector. The chemical sector is considered one of the essential branches of the economy. Due to its specificity, this industry cultivates the concept of a safety culture in the organization. It looks for solutions to eliminate human errors, the negative consequences of which may affect the company's operations and the environment. The article presents the results of the audit of the current sample delivery process from the warehouse to the laboratory, which are located in two different buildings. The audit results were a premise for the management board to start work related to the implementation of drones in the process under study. The article presents the assumptions of the developed solution and the results of the analysis of benefits and threats related to implementing the proposed system.
